# Gemini CLI

> Use Darwin from an MCP-enabled Gemini CLI session.

Install Darwin's official Gemini CLI extension:

```bash theme={null}
gemini extensions install https://github.com/darwin-studios/darwin-gemini-cli
```

## First request

Once Darwin's tools appear in the agent, paste this request:

```text theme={null}
Search Darwin for an executable capability for
this task. Show the best result and its terms.
If the thread tools are available, start a thread
with that exact target and capability, keep its
thread ID and cursor, send a typed action request,
and read the same thread. Stop for any requested
confirmation, connection, payment, or approval.
```

The [public extension repository](https://github.com/darwin-studios/darwin-gemini-cli) contains the root manifest and no credentials. It connects to `https://mcp.darwin.so/mcp`, is released as `v0.1.0`, and carries the `gemini-cli-extension` topic for Gemini's automatic gallery indexing. Gallery appearance follows Google's daily crawler and is not represented as approved until it appears there.

Restart Gemini CLI, run `/extensions list`, authenticate in the browser, verify the advertised tools, and ask Gemini to Search before starting work. If the thread catalog is present, persist the returned `thread` and last consumed cursor outside transient model prose when work may survive the current terminal session.

Use `get_thread` after a restart or interrupted browser interaction instead of creating replacement work.

## Session checklist

* Keep user-scoped OAuth outside repository files.
* Confirm the advertised tool list before assigning real work.
* Ask for Search results and terms before allowing Act.
* Persist `thread` and the last consumed cursor in application state when work can outlive the terminal.
* Return connection, payment, and approval steps to the user.
