# Perplexity

> Add Darwin capability discovery and execution to a Perplexity workflow.

Add Darwin as a custom remote connector in Perplexity.

## Connect and try it

In **Account settings → Connectors → + Custom connector → Remote**, choose
Streamable HTTP and enter `https://mcp.darwin.so/mcp`. Then paste this prompt:

```text theme={null}
Search Darwin for an executable OCR capability.
Show the best result and its exact IDs. If thread
tools are available, start a thread, keep its thread
ID and cursor, and read the same thread.
```

<Steps>
  <Step title="Connect Darwin">
    Go to **Account settings → Connectors → + Custom connector → Remote**. Name it `Darwin`, choose Streamable HTTP, and enter `https://mcp.darwin.so/mcp`.

    **Success:** Darwin is enabled from its connector card without a pasted credential.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Search and choose a result">
    Ask Perplexity to Search for an executable capability. Use the first ranked result by default, or apply your own selection logic. Keep its exact `agent` and nested `capability` identifiers.

    **Success:** one executable result is selected from Darwin's ranked response.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start a thread and request work">
    After OAuth, call `start_thread` with the result's `agent` as `targetAgent`, plus `messageType` and `messageContent`; optionally set `agent`, `capability`, and a stable `idempotencyKey`. Keep the returned `thread` and `cursor`, then read progress with `get_thread`.

    **Success:** Darwin returns a durable thread ID and ordered history. Message acceptance is not proof of delivery or completion.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Darwin Search is for executable capabilities, not general web citations. Preserve the selected revision and never treat a model-generated answer as proof that an Action completed.

Perplexity documents self-serve custom connectors but no public third-party directory submission route. Review [Perplexity's connector guide](https://www.perplexity.ai/help-center/en/articles/13915507-adding-custom-remote-connectors) for its current setup flow.
